Job Description

Position Summary

Assists patients to identify and treat various auditory problems.

Key Accountabilities

  • Examines patients who have hearing, balance or related ear problems.
  • Assesses examination results and diagnoses problems.
  • Determines and administers treatment to meet patients goals.
  • Fit and dispense hearing aids.
  • Counsel patients and families on ways to listen and communicate, such as lip reading or through technology.
  • Evaluate patients regularly to check on hearing and balance and to continue or change treatment plans.
  • Record patients progress and record information in the electronic health records (EHR).
  • Research the causes and treatment of hearing and balance disorders.
  • Educate patients on ways to prevent hearing loss.
  • Assumes responsibility for self-improvement by identifying, communication and seeking resources or instruction to meet self-learning needs.
  • Contributes to care improvement by participating in: coaching, mentoring and developing staff, performance/quality improvement opportunities and research.
  • Adheres to OSHA regulations.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Relationships

  • Reports to the Practice Manager and/or Physicians.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, other providers and the public.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Additional Skills & Requirements)

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have obtained a Doctoral Degree in Audiology (AudD) from an accredited graduate program.
  • Good computer and math skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a team and to share responsibilities and duties.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict in a straightforward and timely manner.
  • Ability to set priorities, be organized and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to be friendly, empathic and an adept communicator.
  • Ability to treat providers, staff and patients with respect.
