• *Assists with planning, coordination and supervision of the Respiratory technical staff during the scheduled shift.
• Responsible for ensuring minimal staffing for shift coverage and works to increase staffing when patient volumes increase
• *Assists and leads in the process of new employee orientation and provides input into the interviewing, hiring and selection process of new hires.
• In addition to performing the task of a staff Respiratory Therapist. Team lead will be trained to perform Pulmonary Function Testing and/or Electroencephalograms (EEG)
• Participates in appraisal process of staff with Director.
• *Develops monthly work schedule for technical staff. Monitors Facility Scheduler on a regular basis to maximize/minimize staffing to meet patient care needs.
• *Shares responsibility for logging payroll hours into the KRONOS system.
• *Shares responsibility for ordering departmental operation supplies and assists with inventory control.
• *Assists with departmental PI projects.
• Assist Director of Cardiopulmonary with management of Blood Gas Laboratory. Performs monthly quality controls (QCs)
• Participates with Shared Governance and acts as the department DESSO

*THOSE SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS WITH AN (*) ARE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CONSIDERED NECESSARY TO ACCOMPLISH THIS JOB.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• 2 years of critical care experience.

Preferred:

• 1 year experience in a supervisory role or educational instruction in management.

EDUCATION:

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care

Preferred:

• B.S. degree or currently enrolled in B.S. program.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Current VA license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
• BLS for Healthcare Providers through the AHA or CPR through the American Red Cross

Preferred:

• Certified Respiratory Therapist and/or Registered Respiratory Therapist
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE
