We are seeking a(an) Respiratory Therapist Transport for our team to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. Job Summary and Qualifications
  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs
  • Provides respiratory care for high-risk infants from referring hospitals to Wesley Medical Center or from Wesley Medical Center to another specialized facility via ground unit or fixed wing aircraft
  • Performs therapeutic and diagnostic interventions per RC Policy/Procedure Manual
  • Maintains the Respiratory Care transport equipment in proper working order; re-stocks equipment after transports before end of shift
  • Demonstrates availability to take transport call on off duty time as assigned, responding within the 30-minute target response time guideline
  • Evaluates and assesses patients respiratory needs, develops an appropriate care plan in accordance with approved protocols or by consulting with and making recommendations to physicians
  • Evaluates and assesses patients ventilatory needs, utilizing appropriate modes, ventilators and technology, both invasive and non -invasive, in accordance with approved protocols or by consulting with and making recommendations to physicians
  • Accurately documents therapy and medications administered, including pre and post assessment of therapy, diagnostic testing results, patient interventions and physician communications per RC Policy/Procedure manual
  • Assures accuracy of patient charges by correct documentation, use of Supply Scan, Pyxis and departmental supplies
  • Accurately transcribes physician orders in the patient record
  • Assists with training, orientation and instruction of new employees and Respiratory Care students; providing a positive learning environment
  • Assists with equipment care and maintenance, cleaning and disinfection/sterilization, reassembly and functional checks
  • Demonstrates competence and willingness to accept assignments in all areas of the department as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What qualifications you will need:

Required Registration, Licensure or Certification:

  • Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts
  • Current registration through the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course verification course through American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR)
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) verification course through American Heart Association or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider (CPR)
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Current NPS credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care

Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification:

  • Attendance of Part 91 Annual Flight Training
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) verification course through American Heart Association or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider (CPR)

Required Education or Experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy
  • 2 years of Level 3 or 4 NICU experience

Preferred Education or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
