They assess, treat, and care for patients with lung diseases such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, and COPD. They are also essential in emergency situations, providing life-saving treatment to victims of heart attacks, stroke, drowning, or shock. Respiratory Therapists are responsible for operating and maintaining various types of respiratory equipment, including ventilators and artificial airway devices.
