Respiratory Therapy Technician Jobs in Missouri

A Respiratory Therapy Technician plays a vital role in the therapy industry by providing care for patients suffering from various respiratory conditions such as chronic respiratory diseases, asthma, emphysema, or other lung-related ailments. Their primary duties include conducting diagnostic tests, administering aerosol or inhalant therapies, monitoring patient's response to treatment, and maintaining patient records. They work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals in developing and implementing treatment plans. Furthermore, they maintain and operate medical equipment used in respiratory care such as ventilators, oxygen supply devices, and nebulizers.

Important skills for a Respiratory Therapy Technician include strong communication skills, detail-oriented, problem-solving skills, and a compassionate nature. They should have a thorough understanding of respiratory care principles and procedures, and the ability to provide patient education on respiratory care and disease management. Besides, they should have the necessary certifications, including the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials. Before becoming a Respiratory Therapy Technician, a person may have roles such as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or a Medical Assistant, which provide relevant experience in patient care and medical procedures.
